This engine is MUCH cleaner, quieter and more efficient than its mechanically injected predecessor (the 3126.) According to an article in SOUNDINGS (April 2006 Pgs. 30-31) the 3126B burns only 2.2 G/h @ 1200 RPMs and 13.4 G/h @ 2400 RPMS. The new Caterpillar warranty begins upon commissioning. All systems are being chosen for their durability. All mechanicals are being installed in such a way as to be easy to service for the life of the boat.
A ZF 2:1 transmission (with trolling valve) turns a 2" shaft and 4-bladed 26 x 26 Prop. All fuel lines are Aeroquip bdaided A-1

General Description:

The Wesmac design blends the best aspects of Downeast and Chesapeake Bay workboats into a tough, easily-driven hull form, ideal for offshore fishing or cruising. The full keel assures excellent tracking and protection for running gear. The reverse hard chines give planning lift and resistance to rolling. Her nicely flared bow and spray rails make her dry- even when driven hard to weather. Her slightly curved stem and tumblehome aft add classic beauty to her lines. The respected naval architect, Mike Kaufman is designing the accommodation plan.
The hull is hand laid, solid fiberglass and vinyl ester resin . There is no print-through and the hull is perfectly fair. The full keel and streamlined skeg support a stainless rudder shoe and custom welded stainless rudder.
Custom-welded stainless steel bow and stern rails are on order and a satin-varnished (7 coats!) teak & holly sole has been installed and finished in the main saloon.
